A History of India
I found three books which gave some information about Ancient Indian history. They are Romila Thapar’s Early India: From the Origins to AdHeramnn. I am thrilled to read this book It really clarified some of the missing links between Indus civilisation and Vedic period. That gap in the history of India was dark. Some lights are shown. Vedic people did not have the skills of the indigenous people.
The manipulation of the society which would give prestige to priestly class in combination of kings is very well explained.

Besides it also gives why and how the rigidity of caste system is maintained. Even the concepts of Karma and Samsara were borrowed from indigenous people in later Vedic period.
The book also indicates how vaisya’s were included in higher hierarchy of the society. I am really obliged to the Authors for enlightening me.
